Bold Ideas Across America That Are Making Cities Better; Things We Could Use More of Here
Each year Fast Company magazine highlights 12 'Fast Cities' that are doing bold and innovative things to make themselves more competitive in the global marketplace and the improve their quality of life. In doing so they hope that these ideas are embraced by cities everywhere.
We wholeheartedly agree in that they highlight many of the same principles that our own campaign is advocating for here in Michigan.
In fairness, many of Michigan's communities are adopting similar projects to ones that make up the 'Fast Cities of 2010.'
Similar to Oakland,Ca, Lansing has been developing a greater hybrid bus fleet. Not unlike New York City, Detroit is becoming a ground zero in the urban agricuture movement. And the list could go on for many of the projects featured in the Fast Company article.
The point is, these are the bold ideas and inititatives that are shaping the cities of the future and are exactly what we could use some more of here in Michigan as we redefine ourselves to stay competitive in the 21st century.
