Wow. Just over two months ago we put a call out to artists and designers from across the state to submit posters that depict the things they felt would best lead to the rebirth of Michigan's cities and the state as a whole.

Well the response was amazing.

But don't take my word for it, see for yourself. Voting launches today for the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and Let's Save Michigan Poster Contest at letssavemichigan.com/posters.

The judges had the difficult task of selecting 60 finalists from more than 300 entries of posters created for the purpose of inspiring Michiganders to revive their state. (You may remember that we originally were going to select 25 but because the tremendous quality of the submissions we decided to increase it  to 60 or the top 20% of entries).

The posters are part of Let's Save Michigan's goal to rally Michigan citizens to create livable and desirable communities that will position the state's economy for a better future.

Without a doubt the best part of the contest has been seeing so many creative ways people have depicted the assets and actions that will transform Michigan's cities, from transit to urban farming and so much more.

Voting will close on March 15. Let's Save Michigan will announce the winner, who will be awarded $1,000, on the site on March 16. The runner-up will receive $250. Third through fifth place will receive a membership to DIA.

Throughout March, the posters of the 60 finalists will be on display in the lobby of Detroit's historic Fisher Building.
