We’ve Launched Our Placemaking Contest!
Let's Save Michigan is thrilled to announce "It's About Place," a contest devoted to bringing placemaking to Michigan communities.
Placemaking, creating vibrant public spaces that invite and encourage community interaction, is an approach that Michigan's cities and towns need. For decades we've been disinvesting in our downtowns, and Let's Save Michigan wants to help reverse that trend.
Read all about the contest details here.
Anyone in Michigan can enter--whether you're an individual, a community organization, a group of business owners, or a municipality or municipal agency. You'll have to submit a "letter of intent" (via email) by April 4. Final submissions are due May 6. We'll then set up a month of online, public voting, followed by final selection by our panel of placemaking judges (you might recognize them from our Leap Into Placemaking event last week!).
So start thinking creatively about how to re-imagine an underutilized public place in your community. We can't wait to see your ideas--and to provide the resources that make the winners' projects a reality!
