RETHINK THE POSSIBILITIES OF YOUR CITY AND MICHIGAN: PARK(ing) Day 2011, Sept 16th!
Pictures from last year's events.
Before summer has passed us by, help us highlight the need for more livable, vibrant spaces in our cities. PARK(ing) Day is a quirky, annual, worldwide event where folks use their creativity to transform metered city parking spots into temporary parks for the public good for an hour or two.
It’s easy to forget about the public spaces that make our cities so great. We often forget how they host our festivals, our work lunches, or family picnics–and play the underappreciated role of creating the vibrant cities that will help turn Michigan around.
Help us celebrate the last days of summer and highlight the need for more livable and vibrant spaces in our cities by helping put together a PARK(ing) Day event in your city. This is a fun and creative way to highlight the importance of public spaces in our cities while enjoying the company of friends, neighbors and strangers.

Not too late to have an event in your city: Bring some green to your street. Your PARK(ing) Day event can be grand and artistic and even absurd or it can be simply some ferns and lawn chairs. Most importantly its about rethinking the possibilities of our cities and stressing the improtance of public spaces. And in the end its about having fun while making a point.
