Historic downtown Tecumseh along East Chicago Boulevard makes for a pleasant stroll any time of year. Brick storefronts now house antique shops, boutiques, salons, and restaurants in preserved 19th century buildings.
Stop for a cup of coffee at Poppyfields or indoor mini golf at Minni Golf. The downtown district really comes alive during annual events like the Appleumpkin Festival and Art Trail. With its walkable size and community spirit, downtown Tecumseh is the heartbeat of the city.
2. Hike Wildwood Preserve Metropark
Stretching across 763 acres, Wildwood Preserve Metropark offers beautiful hiking trails through forests, wetlands, and prairie. As you stroll along the rustic dirt paths, keep an eye out for birds and wildlife including deer and beavers.
Don’t miss seeing historic corrals and horse barns built by the Wildwood Horse Farm in the 1930s. With diverse landscapes in all seasons, it’s my favorite natural area for an afternoon walk close to home.
3. Shop at the Tecumseh Antique Mall
Antique lovers can spend hours browsing the Tecumseh Antique Mall located right downtown. This massive shop holds booths filled with treasures from over 100 individual dealers.
Find vintage home decor, glassware, sports memorabilia, toys, jewelry, records, and more covering diverse eras. Wares range from dusty items that need some TLC to polished collectibles in pristine condition. You never know what unique relics you might discover inside.
4. See a Show at The TCA

Since the 1940s, the Tecumseh Center for the Arts has been entertaining the local community with live performances. This historic theater offers an intimate setting to see plays, musicals, concerts, comedy shows and more put on by local talent.
Upcoming shows range from classic musicals like Fiddler on the Roof to tribute bands playing hits styles. Affordable tickets keep it accessible. With its welcoming vibe and quality shows, The TCA is the heart of Tecumseh’s arts scene.
5. Tour Raisin Township Cementary
History buffs and photography enthusiasts shouldn’t miss a tour of the Raisin Township Cemetery just outside Tecumseh. Established in the 1830s, this peaceful country cemetery holds thousands of elaborate Victorian-era headstones carved with symbolic imagery.
Unique grave markers include a lifesize statue of a woman kneeling by a cross. Wandering the rows of stones provides a glimpse into the artistry and sentiments of the past.
6. Take a Class at The Ivy Cottage
Unleash your creativity with arts and crafts classes at The Ivy Cottage. This cheery downtown shop hosts regular DIY workshops open to all levels covering topics like macrame, candle making, wood signs, floral design, glass etching, cookie decorating, and more.

7. Taste Local Wine at Rove Estate Vineyard
The tasting room at Rove Estate Vineyard provides the ideal setting to sip award-winning Michigan wines. Settle into the cozy log cabin interior or outdoor patio to try signature reds and whites like the Estate Chambourcin and Vignoles.
Cheese and charcuterie boards pair perfectly with the wines. After tasting, stroll through the small vineyard to see the vines up close. Rove Estate really captures the charm of Michigan’s blossoming wine region.
8. Play Disc Golf at Indian Crossing Trails
Enjoy a round of disc golf at the scenic 18-hole course winding through Indian Crossing Trails park. This top local spot combines technical wooded holes with open fairways that traverse along the River Raisin.
My friends and I like bringing picnic snacks to refuel after all the disc tossing. The well-designed course is suitable for beginners and avid disc golfers. With natural beauty, it’s a peaceful setting for a round.
9. Go Paddling on the River Raisin
One of my favorite Tecumseh activities on a sunny day is renting a kayak or canoe from Tecumseh Paddling Company and taking it out on the River Raisin.
You can put in right downtown and enjoy a scenic paddle taking in views of historic architecture and the lush riverfront.
Paddling upriver offers a relaxing workout before floating gently back downstream. Local outfitters also provide tubes for leisurely floating. With wildlife and pretty scenery, hitting the river gets you in touch with nature.
10. Catch a Show at The Revival
For top-notch musical performances in an intimate venue, The Revival is the place to be. This cozy listening room located downtown hosts national and local artists playing indie, folk, Americana, blues and other genres in a speakeasy-style setting.
Cold craft beers and cocktails complement the shows. Music fans will appreciate the venue’s flawless acoustics and close proximity to the performers. It’s my favorite spot to discover new bands coming through Tecumseh.
11. Tour the Tecumseh Historical Museum

Step back in time during a visit to the Tecumseh Historical Museum housed within a historic 1830s inn. Rotating exhibits document different eras of local history using artifacts, photographs, clothing and more.
I especially like seeing vintage items from businesses around town like a 1930s soda fountain from Tecumseh Dairy. Outbuildings on the grounds include a one-room schoolhouse. It’s a great place to familiarize yourself with Tecumseh’s past.
12. Pedal the Tecumseh-Adrian Bike Trail
Cycle through scenic southern Michigan on the Tecumseh-Adrian Bike Trail. This paved rail trail stretches 16 miles between the two small towns, providing an excellent ride for all levels.
Along the way, you’ll pass by farmland, wetlands, and forested areas while getting in exercise and enjoying fresh air. I like packing a picnic lunch to enjoy halfway through at a rest stop. The trail also connects to other regional pathways for extending your ride.
13. Cheer on the Tecumseh Arrows – Things to Do in Tecumseh Michigan

The Arrows have a storied athletics tradition with championship teams like football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, baseball and softball.
